Winter Warmers

Dressing in winter doesn't need to be hard. The hard part is getting out of bed when it's -1 degrees outside and the heater hasn't kicked in yet ugh! Bring back summer I say...but there's no getting out of it, so might as well make the most of the cold weather by dressing to impress.
There's a huge difference between wearing what you want and wearing what will keep you warm. I used to make the mistake of dressing in whatever the heck I wanted without taking into consideration the climate I was in. I didn't like coats cause they were too bulky and you have to remove it and cart it around when you got inside. This resulted in many a cold and freezing my butt off wherever I went. BUT you don't have to suffer anymore. Here are just a few of my favourite winter inspo outfits that I've invested in for this winter.

A coat...number one!

A coat is the most important investment for the colder months. Especially if you live in a freezing climate like me. Brrr. I suggest you do spend some money on a good quality coat. One that will give you warmth, being comfortable is a must and spending money on a good coat will hopefully mean that it'll last you through a couple of seasons. If this is the case make sure you go for a classic colour, like your traditional black (always a safe bet), dark grey or a nice beige or caramel colour. With that said it's always best to have more than one coat in your cupboard so that you can have some fun with different colours and patterns as the seasons dictate styles and trends.

Here are my picks.

Experiment with a cape. I'm on the look out for the perfect one :)

Classic black. You can never go wrong.

Go for a splash of colour. They don't need to be full length either, you can have coats of all different lengths.

I actually own this one :)

Knits!

I love em~ can't get enough.
I'm so glad they are now acceptable to wear outside of the house ;)

They don't have to be neutral colours either. Colour is still all the rage so why don't you try matching a coloured knit with a fun print.

Boots

Boots are a must in winter when you spend any more than 5 minutes outside. I have about a 10 minute walk to work from my car in the mornings and evenings when the day is at its coldest. When I wear flats my feet FAH-REEZE! But when i'm wearing my boots it's the dream! This season i've only really been into ankle boots.

Scarves & Hats ~ the bigger the better!

Hats aren't as essential but a scarf can be the difference between being super cold and comfortable. Especially when it's windy. I have a pretty big scarf collection in all different colours, textures and sizes. One to go with pretty much any outfit.

Me in my winter hat :)

These scarves are all neutral but don't be afraid to wear a bright colour. Especially if your outfit is all black or plain or neutral it is easy to throw on a coloured scarf to brighten up your outfit. Doing this will also lift your mood on a dreary winters day.

Mads and her room

Hi there Confetti Sisters! Its Mads here :)

Recently I moved in a new room in my house :) My brother was lucky enough to have the biggest room, and now he has moved out, I have taken up residence, move over big bro its my turn. I have been buying bits and pieces for my room since January. I just thought since it is very nearly finished I would share it with you.

For this blog post I am going to give you guys a tour and explain each part and what I hope to do with that space. For me my room shows my softer side, its a place where I can relax and most importantly its a place where I think the most. Someone that also spends some time in here is my puppy Tilda, she has a few favourite places to hang out. In this post you will see where she loves being the most, so look out for her :)

The first area I am going to chat about is my beautiful sitting chair.

This chair is super comfy and super cute! I bought this chair, the throw and the pillow all from IKEA. I ultimately want to buy a beautiful wingback chair so this is just a temporary option but I still think it does the job. The chair was on sale and only cost $40, I first saw the chair in black but after further investigation I discovered this beautiful grey, I think it suits my room better. The purpose of this chair is to fill space, maybe when I have company it might be a better option than sitting on my bed, for myself as well I think it will be really nice to sit in while I read or just hangout or look out my window. There seems to be a few cats that regularly visit my yard so that might be all the serenity I will experience.

My next part is my built in shelves.

Hahaha excuse my messy shelves. When my brother lived here he had a clothes rack and one of those wire shelving units, and first thing I did was vomit in my mouth a little bit. I really thought it was a waste of a really good space. Here is a photo of me in the space that is now the shelves above.
The fabric boxes I used are from IKEA and only cost like $4 each. My shelves are not IKEA, my Dad got the materials from Bunnings and made it himself. What is bonus about the shelves is that they are really deep, I can fit multiple stack of clothes in them. We all know what that means "More room means more clothes". I hear you sisters, you are preaching to the choir, I have heaps of room for more clothes!

My next section is my clothes racks. I got the inspiration for this from a few friends, about 3 of them had them. I had never seen it before but being the influenced youth I was, I jumped on that band wagon no questions asked. I have 3 clothes racks and they are white and super plain and simple, and only $10 from IKEA.

I have all my clothes seperated, into tops; sweaters, long tops, jackets; and at the end shorts and dresses. I have a friend who has hers colour coordinated and it looks sick but I really think I would not be able to keep it in order.

Oopsy I forgot my desk, I was supposed to go clockwise.. dang! But here it is :)
Lets be real...This whole ensemble is from IKEA. For me this is an unfinished area I hope to get a new desk for a more design space. Those wooden drawers are seriously the best, so cheap and so great! That chair there is metal and golly its super comfy and practical, it folds up to give more room for dancing.

My next area is right next to my bed :)
Take a look at my beautiful trolley, its meant to be a for the kitchen, but I thought I would turn it into a makeup/hair trolley. Its easy to move, I can separate everything, I do not want hair wrapped around my concealer, that time of my life is over. I got these cute little tins and boxes just to separate everything. I might do a blog post on the contents of my trolley, leave a comment if you would like to see that :)

Last part is my bed and my bedside table, my best area.

I just love this space. My bed frame and head board is from IKEA its in the Brimnes range. What I love about IKEA is just how you can buy matching items. Which is something that most furniture stores offer but the IKEA range is very large. The things that I might change is those wicker drawers, they just do not fit the rest of the room. Another thing I need to invest into is a full length mirror. Have you noticed that my desk char, my bin, beauty trolley and feature all match. That is the best think about IKEA. You can match all different stuff.

Let me know in the comments if you like to see a blog post on my favourite makeup and hair products
:)

This was super fun to write and can't wait to show you what I buy for my room next time :)

WELCOME CONFETTI SISTERS! We are super excited to be starting our blog :) It's been a long time coming but we are finally here. Our blog is all about having fun, sharing our love of style, life, design, food, makeup and all those girly things with loads of giggles along the way.

Come with us as we share with you our world of spontaneity, colour and confetti!

But first let's introduce ourselves...

Hi there sisters! My name is Madeleine and I am a confetti sister. I enjoy fashion, music and life! I believe in "YOLO", living each day as if it were my last. In my posts you will see a few versions of me. I think my style is slightly bi-polar in the way that one day I will be grunge... next day I will dress like I am in a Taylor Swift music video. Can not wait to share my style tips and secrets with you!
I would say that I enjoy being loud and outrageous 100% of the time :)

I think if I was stuck on a desert island I would take:
1. Dry Shampoo..cant be caught without it honestly
2. My Topshop denim jacket for sure! Its so practical
3. My journal... I have so many emotions...sometimes talking just does not cut it
4. My puppy Tild.. she is the cutest thing on this planet....
Please check out my Instagram because I just love it! A picture can say what words can't :)

My name is Caroline and I am a confetti sister :) On a typical day off you'll find me flicking through the latest edition of Elle Australia (my all time favourite fashion magazine, which you'll soon learn ;) ), spending countless hours getting lost on Pinterest or cleaning out my ever expanding wardrobe, which happens on an almost weekly basis, ready for the next intake from my latest shopping trip ;) Yep, if you haven't already guessed I'm a big lover of fashion and style. I'd say my ultimate style icon would be Olivia Palmermo, she always looks so chic and well put together. My style is one step above casual at all times, always ready for any occasion and I rarely if ever not have my fingernails painted with a bright colour.

I'm so looking forward to sharing more of my life with you. Stay tuned and feel free to follow me on instagram @carolinej_sainty or on pinterest: carolinejsainty :)

Until next time sisters <3
